The American Radio Relay League and the Amateur Radio on the International Space Station sites offer both immediate and longer-term goals to bring STEM-enabling resources to the classroom.
American Radio Relay League
The American Radio Relay League, the national association for amateur radio, offers a library of STEM lesson plans and learning activities on their web site.
Additionally they offer a donor-funded professional development program designed to help classroom teachers elevate their STEM programs through the use of wireless technology. It is available to participants at no charge. Find more information and application forms at: Teacher’s Institute for Wireless Technology.
Amateur Radio on the International Space Station
ARISS lets students worldwide experience the excitement of talking directly with crew members of the International Space Station, inspiring them to pursue interests in careers in science, technology, engineering and math, and engaging them with radio science technology through amateur radio. Schools and other educational organizations may apply to host a scheduled contact with the ISS.
